My mom has been here less than a week & our Family is praying for her Rehabilitation Treatment to go well.. Regretfully although she requires assistance, when she presses the button for assistance there's no sense of Urgency. We've waited before about 20 minutes, but I had already assisted her because no one ever came. I don't want to risk my Mom falling again when she is required to have assistance. Their personal conversations in the hallway appear to be the Priorty, as opposed to the Patients they are here for.

I would never send a loved one here. Johns Hopkins arranged for my Dad to be discharged to their rehab after a hospital stay in early 2021. He fell out of bed the first night and ended up in the ER. They said they'd assign someone to watch him, but when I called and talked to that person one night I was appalled at how clueless and disinterested she was. I was not allowed to visit him, but I sent detailed information to PT, ST & OT about the work we'd had him doing at home after his second stroke. They did NONE of it. After two weeks of neglect (and no, they don't answer phones or return calls), they sent him to St Joseph's (where they repeatedly complained about how horrible his care must have been "at ManorCare," and I still can't help but wonder if they falsified records to cover up for their incompetence) claiming he'd pulled out his feeding tube (highly unlikely since he'd never tried to do that). One of the nurses at St Jo's told me she'd never seen anybody's mouth so horribly neglected (when someone has a feeding tube, you HAVE to take care of their oral hygiene), and my Dad had clearly not had PT or OT as he'd been able to walk prior to going into SM, but couldn't when they sent him to St Jo's. His woundcare was also neglected. I still believe they pulled his feeding tube so they could get rid of him before he died on their watch instead of taking care of him. It is 3 years later and I am still angry at how they mistreated him. And sadly, I'm not alone. I ran into someone whose uncle was likewise neglected by this understaffed, apathetic place. If, God forbid, you don't have a choice, visit your loved one regularly and ask lots of questions.

I do not recommend the Stella Maris sub-acute rehab facility for you or your loved ones, and most especially not if you or they have dietary restrictions of any kind.

My mom was there for just over a week, and the kitchen was absolutely belligerent. They messed up her meals more times than I can count and were rude and scolding when asked to fix it. Mom had an especially upsetting incident in which her server made a snide comment about how much she'd eaten after they "went to so much trouble." She soon became violently ill, leading her to believe her food was deliberately contaminated and to feel unsafe in the facility.

We did have several individuals try and help us after multiple complaints, but unfortunately, it didn't lead to any real change.
The facility itself is nice and new, but they are understaffed. Very little actual rehabilitation is going on there. There are some good people working at Stella Maris, but many staff are just phoning it in. Mom had one terrible aide who was angry and rough, but she didn't see her again after I complained.

If you have to come here, be prepared to advocate.

Mom was in their memory care unit for a year before spending a day on their hospice floor. Throughout her time there we were exceedingly grateful for the attentive and personal care she received. There was a nice view out of her window, and every time I asked her how she was doing, she replied, "Fantastic!" The pastoral staff was very accommodating in allowing us to use their wonderful chapel for her memorial service, and several staff came forward during the service to speak about their personal experiences with her. The building was always clean and well-maintained, and the women who handled the intake process and, later, the finances - especially the transition from private pay to Medicaid - were unfailingly helpful, courteous, and understanding. I can't think of anything more that I would ask from such a facility. On behalf of our entire family, thank you. Thank you.

My mother was a resident at the Stella Maris long term facility for several years. She recently passed away at the age of 95. I cannot thank Stella Maris enough for the excellent care the staff; admins, nurses, hospice, and other support people gave to her. Several years ago, my family and I thought my mother's health was deteriorating to the point we believed she wouldn't be with us much longer. Luckily, she qualified for government assistance at Stella Maris. Gradually, her health improved, and she lived happily several years after moving into Stella Maris. I wholeheartedly know that her quality of life improved so much that she lived years beyond all expectations. My brother and I often comment that if we had to go into long term care the place, we would go is surely Stella Maris.

I am so thankful for the Stella Maris facility. When dealing with a loved one needing care, it can be very stressful and overwhelming. The administration and staff at Stella Maris has been absolutely wonderful. Everyone we have encountered thus far has been knowledgeable, professional, and eager to help. The rehab is state of the art, clean and refreshing in every way. I truly mean it when I say that this facility is the Disney world of all facilities and I am incredibly grateful that my grandmother is in their care. She boasts each time I see her how well she is being cared for and assures me that I do not need to worry. That peace of mind is priceless and almost unheard of in the healthcare industry.

Stella Maris rehabilitation center is terrible! The nursing staff does not take care of their patients! They are abusive and neglectful! My father in law WAS staying there. One of the times he fell out of his bed the staff just left him there on the floor! While walking through the halls I have seen the staff yelling and making fun of the patients. Rehabilitation is supposed to help you get better! Not to help you get worse! Not only the poor treatment of the patients, the staff couldn't tell my husband ANYTHING about his father! He could not get any information on his father's well being in person or over the phone! DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE IF YOU WANT THEM TAKEN CARE OF!!!

We used Stella Maris for my mother's home hospice. We couldn't have asked for a more amazing and compassionate staff. Cheryl Ann was a literal angel and made my mom's transition so peaceful and safe. Forever grateful to her!
