The automatic voicemail service doesn't takes me to someone who can assist me with my issue. Even after I press the exact buttons it prompts me to for the specific service. GRU needs better customer service and better training for the people who answer our calls. Not to mention, i waited 50 minutes until someone picked up. I miss the customer service I had while living in Jacksonville with JEA.

I sold my house on April 18, 2022. GRU charged me for utilities at this house in June 2022, when I did not even have ownership of the house. They would not reverse charges. GRU needs to review their customer service policies and procedures. Also, terriable service when trying to call, long wait times if you can get through at all.

This is the worst electricity company in the country. They charged me $328 for 20 days of electricity. I asked them to please change the meter because something is wrong and my response was that they need to see the readings for the next few months to compare in the previous months the highest bill in summer was $150, this is crazy the air conditioning is turned on a little to avoid the bill being so expensive

I have an investment townhouse property with GRU and only natural gas (thank God) at my home. The utility rates are almost double with GRU for a smaller place. For 5 days I switched it into my name while between tenants and the bill was $178! Carpets were clean and some cleaning done but no showering laundry, etc. $178 for five days is ridiculous! And the rates are going up, up, up!

Worst customer service. Phone rep sounded like she thought I was an idiot for my questions and that I was interrupting her day. Zero answers. Horrible utility owned as a monopoly but the City of Gainesville, FL - Government. They're increasing rates when cost of energy is currently at a 3 year low. Zero empathy and zero programs to help the unemployed when they aren't getting unemployment benefits.

Terrible service they put a new meter in our home and back charged us $750. Dollars cause they said our meter wasn’t working or wasn’t reading the power but they charge us $300 a month for something? I don’t think that was our fault. That put us in a hole financially based on what I make on a veterans pension.

This company is owned by the city. Officials can vote to raise the costs on utilities at a whim, so long as they hold a public council meeting, which is usually held at times average citizens can't attend and therefore say "no".
They rarely if ever finish repairs on time. Now I understand basic delays, but when you leave a community of 300+ apartments with an average of 3+ people in them, without running water 12+ hours, that is a serious problem. Repairs were to begin at 9AM, finish by 9PM, delayed to 10PM. It's not 10:30PM, the crew is nowhere to be seen and there is no running water. A thousand customers with NO WATER. That's no cooking, no flushing a toilet, washing your hands, etc.
This is just one example, but I have many more.

Gainesville citizens need a city council they can trust to keep fair and competitive utility prices (hell Tampa is cheaper), and to ensure the company has enough quality employees to complete work on time.

I would like to send out Kudos to Gene and his crew and Melody of the engineering department with the recent help and services that I received on my project in Gainesville. They definitely went above and beyond the call of duty to expedite moving existing power lines and that were hindering our progress. The entire crew were very hard workers.
