Great indie cooperative bookstore & event space with a revolutionary spirit, awesome staff, and amazing selection of literature and literary materials. Drop in to peruse and choose a great read from their beautifully displayed shelves, catch an event, book launch, or to mix, mingle and get to know the staff and many community based & focused groups and organizations they collaborate with and support! In a great & extremely walkable location & ethnic enclave in West Philly with a plethora of great & diverse dining options in a one block radius- Green Life Cafe, Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant & Bar (with an additional second floor bar called Fiume and a show room across the hall for local band concerts & performers), Manakeesh Cafe & Bakery, Saad's Halal Restaurant, Don Barriga Mexican Restaurant, etc.)- there's so much to see and do at Making Worlds and in the awesome neighborhood around it! So catch a launch/event, buy a book, head over to the cafe to read with a great cup of coffee, pastry, or over a delicious meal at one of the restaurants, grab a drink at one of the bars inside the Abyssinia and catch a local show/concert! Make your way to Making Worlds and make a day of it in one of the trendiest & still authentic neighborhoods in West Philly!

feels like the bougie version of Wooden Shoe, could be more radical but i suppose it's a product of the newer neighborhood vibe. good events though, so maybe it's just a stepping stone for Penn/Drexel kids?

I just happened to walk past this spot & double backed. & I am so happy I did! It was just so lovely inside & they’ve got a book club. They have a wide variety of books & the staff were so helpful. Can’t wait to go back!

Amazing place! Very interesting book selection!
