If I could give zero stars I would. Neu Community started off as a great concept. When I signed up in May 2021 it tauted itself as an affordable alternative to the expensive Austin housing issue. You could get a unique house starting at 150,000. All you had to do was put down a deposit and you would be given priority. Well, two years later, it has changed to a 250,000 membership fee in addition to a monthly rent depending on the structure you choose. No concrete information. Just "someone will get in contact with you to discuss further". They had a groundbreaking ceremony in December 2022 but no additional information has been provided since. There is also no way to choose an updated structure without paying another fee.

No additional information on what happens if you were one of the original people to invest. No pictures of any of the homes that have actually been built. Don't waste your time or money.

Don't give your money to these scam artists. I never received my deposit back even through I called, emailed and contacted them multiple times. Also, investigate on your own the background of the company. Be aware: You DON'T own the land.

Be wary if considering business dealings with NEU Community and their founder, Jonathan Jenkins. From the beginning, they seemed crooked to us. Our experience with them has raised serious concerns. They leased commercial space from us and defaulted on their lease. They not only left the space in poor condition but also stripped parts from the HVAC systems. To date, they have an outstanding debt to us of over $50,000. This situation should be a cautionary tale to anyone thinking of engaging with NEU or its leadership. Their conduct suggests they are more adept at deceitful practices than at legitimate business

Requested a refund today. Made a reservation two years ago. Went to the showroom and was eager to look on the website for more info now that they are in development. There I learned they have a membership fee of $250,000 and then their “all inclusive” fee before even getting to models or upgrades is no less than $4,000. I was told this was for their so called “amenities” and that this somehow would equate to my normal spending on utilities etc. so all in all it was looking at $7000 a month for a 400 sq ft. structure? I don’t understand why anyone would want to invest in this when you could buy a huge house in the city for that. Concept is very different from when we first made our reservations. Disappointing.

I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately they are not being very transparent with what's going on and they keep making changes to everything and not in a good way. Let me be clear, it is not the people people in the office that are the problem, it's the people calling the shots that's the problem. I have been waiting since this whole tying started (approximately a year) and since then, not much has happened in terms of breaking ground or anything. I recently had a realtor involved and she even said that that are extremely disorganized and not being very clear or upfront about anything. She has asked repeatedly for the development plans and they have not given her anything. Nothing has been submitted to the city either which means they have not even broke ground. Last I heard they were also red flagged for the Lake Travis community. They have also changed a lot of other things. Originally you could modify your home if you were renting to own, that's changed. They were going to have more models to view...that's changed. And they've decided not to do that. There is no hookup for a washer or dryer either. There are so many things wrong with what was once an amazing concept has now turned to garbage and just another way to put a big price tag on something. I have since requested my money back. Maybe in a few years(if they ever manager to do something), we'll see where Neu Community is then.

Really don't think the Lake Travis development delay is due to supply shortages like some have suggested. Next time you speak with NEU Community, just ask them if they have received permits from Jonestown, LCRA, TCEQ or Travis County. Better yet... ask them if they have even applied And per their IG post from Dec. 2021 they will be contacting customers who have made deposits so they can choose lots, finalize home builds and secure financing. Seems rather presumptuous to be requesting deposits if they haven't applied and/or received permits from the regulatory agencies. One last thing, opening was supposed to be Fall 2021... has anyone seen a community site plan? I've asked several times and it's always the same answer, "it'll be available in a few weeks." So when you get a call regarding choosing a lot, please ask them if they have the necessary permits to move forward with the Lake Travis development. But if that seems classless or impatient.... then at least request to see a community/development site plan.

Fyi, a permit search can easily be done by submitting a TNR Open Records Request through Travis County's website. As of 3/28/2022, still no approvals nor submissions on record.

And due to not having the required permits, the Lake Travis location has been tagged with "stop work" orders from Travis County, LCRA and City of Jonestown since last year.

Neu has been as helpful as possible to my questions through email.

People who are complaining, have some class and be patient.

They have to setup a build order for an entire sector of the lakeside property and most likely experiencing a supply shortage among other issues involved with building property.

It was only a $100 down deposit, to reserve a build. If wasting that is a problem then maybe you can't afford the real thing.

In this day in age it’s hard for anyone to wait for anything. However I’ve been patient and have understood the process and factors involved in getting a project like this to scale. (During Covid Times) I currently have a lake front lot on hold.

Steve, and Anuarbek from Neu Community have been very responsive to my questions and I’m excited to see the property in the near future.
