As a parent who has had two boys go through the program (third son will start next fall) I can without a doubt say this is the best school and most developmentally appropriate school around! Poe Co offers a unique educational experience for young children ages 3-5 years. Not only has this school been a staple in the community for over 50 years, it is the first parent cooperative in the country to receive (and maintain) accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (N.A.E.Y.C.). The teachers are caring and engaging of all children at all developmental levels.The school community is full of involved and dedicated parents who want to see their children and the school succeed. Poe Co is a child-centered program that aims to foster the love of learning through play! Poe Co offers every child a learning environment designed to foster creativity, confidence, and independence. This environment supports the developing child’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth in a manner specific to the needs of each student. Children are encouraged to select their own activities, express themselves, and explore materials. I'm confident that all children can be successful at Poe Co, which the right involvement from their parents. 5 stars all around!

Poe Co has been a great community for my family! My oldest son has been enrolled at Poe Co for the past year. We plan to send my youngest son when he is old enough as well.

This is a community if you are looking to be involved in your child's day to day activities and education. This is a parent cooperative which means there is a lot of parent involvement which isn't a fit for all families.

We have had a great experience with the teachers. They are the heart of the school and work to tailor their lessons to fit the learning style of each child. We love Poe Co and hope you do too!

My son has had an absolutely fantastic time here at Poe Co. The teachers are highly qualified and incredibly engaging. I'm amazed every day at the fun activities outside on the tables the kids can wander over to interact with. I love that the kids are outside so much in the great playground. I know my son needs to get his wiggles out and boy he does! He's become friends with so many of the other kids too which is awesome. Because the parents are so involved in the school, we get together on the weekends and have also become friends. The school feels like what school should be, a community of like-minded families spending time together on what's most important, the kids. I wish every child could attend a school like this.

This small school is a true gem! After searching for a long time, we decided to enroll our child and it was the best decision.

We love the play-based learning environment, the amount of outdoor play, and seeing how much our kid has accomplished there.

The teachers are caring and loving, and the parents welcomed us and made us feel a part of the community very quickly. We really get to be involved in our kid's education here.

Plus, this is one of the few preschools accredited by NAEYC in Houston.

My son was enrolled at Poe for two months at the beginning of 2023. The preschool has a number of benefits, including the play-based structure, the ample outdoor time, and the active parent involvement. Given my son's high energy, I was hopeful this would be the right place for him.

However, there were a number of red flags, which eventually led to my decision to pull my son out of the school. The biggest red flag is that the teachers are very quick to label your child and will do everything they can to push out the children they don't want.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Poe Co. This is our family’s fourth year here and we couldn’t be happier. The cooperative model gives our family the unique experience of being involved in our child’s early education. Now having a child in elementary school, the Poe co experience of being in the classroom with my daughters is even more special. I love the community, outdoor play time, focus on social/emotional development and play based model. Five stars all around !

PoeCo has been such a wonderful community for our daughter this year! We love the beautiful outdoor space, the caring and supportive teachers and the individualization that comes with such a small school. The parent cooperative means that all families are engaged and you have a whole community of parents that get to know and support your child!

Non-affiliated with any particular religious group, Poe-Co is a community of parents and teachers that work together to provide a developmentally appropriate early childhood education. Don’t be afraid to get involved in your children education. PoeCo is hands-on for parents who want the best for their kids.
