After reading many negative reviews, I wanted to leave a positive one. This is not a review based on the value for energy services. I am a new customer and have not had an opportunity to evaluate that yet. This review is based on customer service. The employees I have interacted with thus far could not have been more helpful. They made it easy to start service at my home; provided helpful suggestions for payment options; patiently took the time to answer my questions about billing, and provide recommendations; and actually returned my phone call to answer questions I had about energy usage. Thank you.

They have the distinction of operating the most expensive EV charger in the United States, the ChargePoint in Buena Vista, which charges over $1.3 per kw on a single stall. This is price gouging, and should be illegal.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! How is this even a company?! I called to have electricity hooked up at our new house and was told that I needed to do that through the website. When I went to the website and entered the requested information, the site seemed to freeze and not move past my hitting the "next" button. I restarted the process and got the same result.....7 times over 3 days. Finally I called and received little help. I was told that the likely problem was that the picture file for the required photo ID was too big--they had had this problem previously. When I suggested that they should fix the problem on their end, instead of requiring each user to have a computer graphics or programming degree, I was told that it "wasn't a problem" and that it had "never happened before"---RIGHT AFTER TELLING ME THAT SHE KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BECAUSE IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY!!!! How does this woman have a job? How does whomever hired her have a job? No wonder she mumbled her name so it couldn't be understood....her job is safe for another day to be terrible at her job and make the company look wildly inadequate. If they weren't the only option in our neighborhood, there is NO WAY I WOULD EVER USE THIS COMPANY.

It's astounding to me that SDCEA can't tell you a thing about potential cost and forces you to pay $500 to even begin to find out anything in advance. It shouldn't be that hard to tell someone at least a rough range of how much per foot it will cost to trench assuming no obstructions (trees, big rocks, etc.) Off-grid solar is starting to seem like a better solution than dealing with these clowns.

Received my very first bill today after an absence from BV for $38.16. Not a hefty bill to be sure, BUT, my energy charge on this bill was $0.13. The remaining $38.03 was for fees and taxes paid on the fees. $18.04 for "Service Availability Charge, what the heck is that? If the service wasn't available I wouldn't have used $0.13 worth of energy! Wildfire mitigation? And of course the ubiquitous "Service Charge". This is something the PUC should take a look at. I've been a member of the "Co-op" since 1973 and it is not serving it's members well.

Debit card changed and bill didn't get paid. Not even 10 days later electricity turned off. 10 days late? Big reconnect fee too. Why did I pay a deposit of a few hundred bucks? My monthly service fees are avg $10 more than my usage charge. Sure wish they charged the non yearly residents higher rates so I dont have to subsidize them. Oh they charge 4times more per kw hr than they get it for. Lady at front desk is very sweet. Though. Hey at least I have electricity

This Co-op is the most expensive in Colorado. DO NOT GO GREEN with these people. They discriminate against Solar and wind power producers. In Jan 2022 they tried implementing new rates and caused an uproar with it membership. The new new service fee went up 45%. They also planned to implement a service distribution charge to roof top solar members that will double our monthly bill while at the same time are rewarding high electric energy consumers. CEO Paul Erickson's outdated thinking is bad for the CO-OP membership and the environment. Based on these new rates, it would be cheaper for us to disconnect our entire solar array and buy grid power.
