We moved my mother with Alzheimer's to Aegis in Ventura last December. Although the decision and process of physically moving my mother was an incredibly nerve-wracking experience for me and my family (she understandably did not want to leave her house, but it was no longer safe for her to live there), I am happy to report she is doing well and LOVES her new home at Aegis. Mary Sawyer was wonderful and patient, and helped us immensely accommodating our fragile situation when we made the decision to move her. We couldn't have done it without her guiding us through the challenges. We are always warmly welcomed during out visits. My mother takes full advantage of the freedom to safely roam the facility and outdoor courtyard - she loves to walk - and walks the path several times a day. She has made several friends, is comfortable with the caring staff, enjoys the fun outings, and raves about the food! She loves music and dancing and we have had so many cherished moments with her during the scheduled activities. I have seen a marked improvement in her disposition and no longer worry about her safety. She's always thrilled to see us! Alzheimer's is an unforgivable disease, but my mother is safe and happy at Aegis and I couldn't be more thankful.

We moved my mother to Aegis Living in May 2022 and I wish I would have moved her there sooner. After my first meeting with Mary, I knew my mom would be safe, happy, well cared for and thrive. Everyone from the caregivers, nurse, dining room helpers, driver, activities coordinators and concierges are wonderful! They are always responsive to requests and are so nice and helpful to my mom. I highly recommend this community to anyone looking for a supportive, loving and friendly home for a loved one, especially with Alzheimer’s. It’s the best.

If you are finding yourself looking for a good fit for your loved one Aegis is the place. From my initial tour with Mary to every step of the process that followed was beyond pleasant. Mary was patient, personable, and a wealth of information. Mary walked me and my family through each step and reassured us the whole way. I can not say enough good things about Mary and her ability to make you feel like part of the family. Aegis is a beautiful property with great amenities but the staff is what sets them apart. Every time I was there to sign paperwork or to tour the room I was greeted warmly by all staff. Bernadette at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. Beatriz is a warm and you can tell she cares for her residents. Everyone went out of their way to introduce themselves and I could see how caring they are with the residents. I know my grandma is in good hands and I know they care for their residents like their own family. They are constantly putting on events and their residents happiness health and safety are the main priority. I am so grateful and so happy we chose Aegis.

After one month of respite care at Aegis, my husband told me that he wanted to move in permanently. The care he receives at Aegis has provided him with an increased cognitive level, more independence and new friendships. Residents are encouraged to participate in numerous and interesting activities. The entire staff is friendly, caring and devoted to each resident. Doug's needs are met 24 hours a day and he is at peace with his life. Being at Aegis has not only been good for him, but has allowed us to have a better, happier relationship and given me back a healthier life, physically and emotionally. A special shout out to Mary Sawyer who made this all happen.

After caring for my husband who has dementia at home with very good caregivers for 2 1/2 years, I knew he needed more mental stimulation than I could provide. My elder care advisor took me to Aegis Living Center first and I now know why she did. From the beginning Mary Sawyer made my decision to move my husband there very easy answering all the worries and misgivings I had. And that was just the beginning. The entire staff and management was very welcoming and kind. And my husband has become so much more engaged with life as he has become close with his Aegis community. Our visits together are warm and loving as I repair from the toll of 24/7 caregiving. And he does not miss a meal the food is so delicious. I am so grateful to have found the Aegis Living Center Ventura community.

Recently we had to make a very difficult decision to move my mother into an assisted living facility. Mom has lived with me for the past 18 years so I was very particular about the place that we found for her. After LOTS of homework and visiting many assisted living places in Ventura County we found Aegis Living of Ventura. The minute we walked into Aegis we knew that this place was different from the many others we visited. The staff is very caring and interactive. They made us feel welcome from the first visit. Mary Sawyer, Marketing Director, and Sam El-Rabaa, General Manager, patiently answered ALL my questions (and there were many!) and helped me to understand that Aegis would be a great place for mom. They helped make a long-distance transition so much easier for all of us. I was so impressed with how accessible they were (and are). I didn't feel like mom was just going to be a number or a dollar sign, but rather that they all truly cared about HER and her well-being and helping her to integrate into this new community that already feels like a family! Mary arranged for me to meet with Dr. Arndt, the MD that cares for residents at Aegis. He also took the time to chat with me about mom and helped me to feel that she would be in very good care. Bernadette at the front desk is always so kind and caring when I come in. I love that they check in with EVERY person who comes through the door to make sure that the residents will be safe. They have very high standards here at Aegis; and that is exactly what I want for my mom. The staff here have definitely gone the extra mile to help us feel comfortable and confident that this is the perfect place for mom. Mary Sawyer has been nothing short of amazing! Thank you, Aegis Staff, for making a challenging decision and transition so much easier for all of us, especially my mom! You guys are truly the best!

After a disastrous experience with in-home "care", I stepped in to help my friend find a new home. We visited every assisted living facility we could find in Ventura where he wanted to live. Aegis won him over after a number of visits and an assurance they would welcome him and his beloved puppy. We visited with staff and some residents and found all of them to be the kind of people my friend wanted in his community. The people who work at Aegis have been consistently kind, caring, and attentive. Their jobs are demanding, and their residents have a lot of diverse needs, but over the first seven weeks my friend has lived there, the staff has been responsive, helpful, and flexible. They have been very professional and proactive about what they can do to help in their particular area of expertise. Mary was patient with all our questions before we made a decision, and she continues to provide helpful info for us. Gary manages the entire facility, and he is always quick to help us or find the right team member to handle what we need. Jaime has gone above and beyond to solve problems with repairs and maintenance, even when it's a personal item. The staff in the dining room and housekeeping made an extra effort to meet my friend and find out how they can make his new home even more comfortable. Bernadette and Damian and Hannah (one at a time) are there with a friendly greeting every time I visit. As a bonus, the puppy gets lots of loving attention, too. Thank you, Aegis.

My father has been a resident at Aegis over the last month. Mary Sawyer was so helpful with the process from the very beginning. She returned my calls and answered questions and concerns in a caring and timely manner. The staff have all been very friendly and available. The location and community is very clean and feels very welcoming. My father has been adapting so far very nicely and appears more relaxed, content, and safe. Thank you to Mary Sawyer, Mary Henderson RN, Sam, and all of the staff for helping make this transition for my father and his family very positive.
